Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique in which the internal organs of the abdomen are visualized using an optical camera system through small incisions. During the procedure, a camera is typically placed inside the abdomen through an approximately 1 cm small incision below the navel.

The abdomen is illuminated to allow for detailed examination of the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. If necessary, treatment may also be administered in the same session using surgical instruments inserted through additional 3–5 mm incisions made in the lower abdominal region.

Laparoscopy is frequently preferred among modern surgical methods because it offers both diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, causes less tissue damage, and facilitates rapid recovery. It is also commonly referred to as “bloodless” or “knife-free surgery” by the general public.
